I think of my abstract collage work as painting with found ink, having discovered freedom in the limitations of paper and glue. The razor mark sometimes evident, these gestural pieces aim to elicit the vague shape of memory, real or not.
Photographic intent is manipulated as I aim to subvert the singular picture plane, building physicality to flat layers of ink. Rooted in color and composition, these evocative forms are strong but airy, bold yet flexible. This tension helps to distill the textural complexity into moments of visual poetry.
